okay since this is a popular feature, i will add some advice so that it is not abused and forcing me to remove it from the site.
1.) informing others that they are ignored once is acceptable, that way, they will know that addressing the person ignoring them will not result in an answer, and the subject should be dropped. This includes constant posting of the "you are ignoring this poster" message that is displayed.
2.) admin and mods cannot be ignored, it is a simple matter of administration, sorry those are the rules for this mod...
3.) constant attacks on a poster you know to be ignoring you will result in warnings eothr in the forums or by provate message. If attacks continue the feature will be removed.
4.) should you wish to respond to a poster that you have on ignore by viewing their post, then do so in an orderly and respectable manner, do not use it as a point of cover to come out and attack someone then go back into hiding, tactics like these will result in warnings and/or the feature being removed.
This feature was intended so that a select few do not drive away any new posters or existing ones, if it does get abused thne it can and will be removed from the site, the admin team do not have enough time to be patrolling these boards 24/7 365 we all do have lives and jobs that are more important then making sure everyone is behaving, this mod was designed in part to let people take a little more responsibility in their own actions and give the admin/mod team a small break, remember these people are not paid they do this for their own free will and to help out the site.
This was meant to be posted earlier, but, i have not had the time in the past couple of days due to other obligations.
This is not a personal attack on any poster here, it is a guidline for all users of this board, i do not like to see petty bickering over something that was meant ot make things quieter.
Whether or not you agree with the way this board is run, it still is one of the most open boards around, moderators and admins barely edit any posts or remove them and when they do they still keep the posts on the site but in the specified area for this reason... the X-Files. Posts are moved to appropriate forums and threads, usually with a ghost link left behind, and information is posted by moderators and admins to inform the posters here of any changes that may be occuring, if a poster chooses to ignore these messages, then they have no position to complain at a later date of unfair treatment.
It is very difficult to be 100% fair and balanced especially when there are so many radically different viewpoints, the admin/mod team are no exception to this,, but, that said, they do not edit posts unless they breach a TOS with our hosts or pose a threat to other posters and or the board in general.
They may not agree with the posts that some posters make, and will say as much, but they do not go out of their way to make individual posters lives difficult here, unless that poster decides to ignore the requests and announcements put up to make this board an easier place to navigate and post on.
