Could you tell me how to get an Arabic version of Word to default to the left margin and go left-to-right? Just when I thought I'd cracked it, I tried to insert a footnote and found the text appearing to the left of the number.

word is a funny thing, i should know this well as i have been trying to use it as a DTP all week, to very little avail!

anyway aside from the TOOLS>LANGUAGE setting, which may or may not help, you may also have to change the entire windows language and regional settings too as they also have an affect on word... as i used to have a uk keyboard on my system ( more buttons) i used to run the PC in UK too.... then i had to install quark which wants EVERYTHING AMERICAN OR ELSE! and i had to change the lot including the keyboard and layout... this also changed all my default page setups and styles in word to the US letter standard and not the A4.... i am guessing thesame will be on that version too...
