Seems that it is not just the NAACP that will not be invited to the Republican National Convention this year...
Ron Reagan has been given 5 to 8 minutes to address Stem Cell REsearch during prime time at the Democratic Convention...which starts in two weeks..
Some say this is politization of the Topic.. Orin Hatch was on Hardball tonight saying he wishes Ron Reagan would not go ...but Ron Reagan said why shouldn't he... it is a topic which needs to have some light shined on it...This type of research ..could lead down the road to a cure for what I have been diagnosed with Diabetes...as well as finding help for Parkinsons...
When asked if he felt Kerry a hypocrite because he said he believes that life begins at conception... R Reagans response was... these cells NEVER enter a womb and will NEVER develope into fetuses...these are simply cells in a petrie dish...
Orin Hatch actually agrees with Stem Cell research but also believes that after R Reagan has his say it will push away Republicans that might have fought for it...

What are your thoughts...???
Is the DNC taking advantage of R Reagan...or are the RNC trying to spin this into something it isn't???

As far as I know, RR lives here in the Seattle Area. There is a local centrist talk show host which is friends with him and his name comes up from time to time.

Just a last night she mentioned this.

I'm very happy he'll be speaking at the convention. It's no big secret that he does not approve of this current administration.

As far as pushing republicans away, who really cares? They've clearly shown over the last four years they cannot be trusted nor should be responsible ever again for any government positions.

After what we've seen over these four years nothing they could ever say again will possibly have any meaning to me again. They've lost their rights IMO to express their opinions about anything until they earn back their credibility. I doubt they are capable of earning that back.

I'm very very angry at what they done by turning a blind eye to what has been the absolute most abysmal failures of any President in American History.

Ron has said he will only talk about steam cell research. He said will not add to his speach anything about the election, and he will not endorse Kerry or Bush. Ron has always been a democrat, and if I recall he actually said he did not vote for his father in 1984.

I believe he has every right to speak where ever he wants, about any issue.

I am betting you will see Nancy given time at the republican convention. Life is not fair sometimes, and the last few years of President Reagans life should not have been as bad as it was for the family. I do not have any real opinion on stem cell research, but I hope Bush gives it some more thought in the coming years.

I have to say when I head this I was extremely happy. Selfish reasons? Probably. Everyone knows how I feel about this and organ donation, so I won't bore you with "the lecture" :D
