Out of interest...
who or what inspires you.....and why??
For me i think it has to be my brother, for having the courage to make the big move and starting a new life in another country, making a successful go of it, showing us all that it can be done...and now with a wonderful wife and lovely family to share it with. I would have liked to have tried but never had the guts. His motivation has finally spurred me on to make tentative plans for the future. I am so proud of him.

my friends, and music. My friends are always there for me, in bad and good times. They always know when to make me laugh and when to just hug me.

Love inspires me....
I am surrounded by it...and inspired by those that love me...
Very simple really...
I am extremely lucky to have the people in my life .
Family...friends and sometimes a complete stranger can help me appreciate how blessed I am...
Ms Digabit...

At the moment?
I'm surrounded by dedicated people who are driven to work hard by their passionate commitment to the UK National Health Service. Although some of them are nurses and health professionals, none are on the front line of care, but their contribution is crucial, in a direct sense, to the capacity of local hospitals, primary, community and mental health services to deliver care to a large area of England.
I'm particularly inspired by the young people in the team. They are every bit as hard working and conscientious as their elders. Every one of them is like this. They really own their work and manage themselves to ensure it gets done. Don't let anyone ever tell you "the young people of today" aren't what they used to be.

I am inspired by beauty, compassion and kindness in it's infinite forms.
Unfortunately, I have too many days where everything appears ugly, bitter and mean-spirited.
I guess that's what pets are for ... they always make me smile.

Music...particularly Stevie Nicks: all of her experience and the grace she has been able to mantain in overcoming all of the conflicts and obsticles she's had, and the reality and passion she brings to her music... in a sweet and mystical way
Nature! The oneness I feel with everything as I watch the sun set, and the intrigue of all the tiny ecosystems that we often are too busy to see, they have such profound lessons within them
The character Scarlet O'Hara from "Gone with the Wind" (maybe Margaret Mitchell is the more appropriate inspiration for writing it in the first place)
Scarlet is strong and determined... strong-willed. She is feminine and independant, and doesn't take a lot of crap. She's successful and good at business, yet creative and passionate! She gets things done... All the things I strive to be, as a woman.
My Grandmother... for a lot of the same reasons. She is kind and loving, yet independant, and in her late 80's still has the will to enjoy life, and make the most of it.
I guess I could say in general I am inspired by strong women, nature, music and art... and the company of good friends philosophizing over a good chess game and gormet coffee or herbal tea
I am inspired by LIFE!

I always try to BE where I am. Even in the heart of the concrete jungle I will sometimes stop and look up at the sky for a bit or down at a plant struggling up in the cracks of the pavement. Life is striving in it's ageless quest to propogate itself into new environments.
I've always thought, when life seemed to giving me "lessons" to learn, that the stoicism of plants was pretty inpiring. They do not choose where to grow. They arrive as a seed and if conditions are right begin to make themselves as best they can.

I didn't mention WHO inspires me:
Ives ... the pianist. Elton John, the pianist/vocalist/composer/entertainer. Gwyn Stefano, her beauty and voice. Gwyn Paltro ... her beauty and exceptional talent. Bill Evans ... dead now, but his voicings at the piano were exceptional. It's a long list of wonderful, good and talented people. Did I mention any posters yet? Such as Atenhotep, Chiselbat, Die Allerbeste (when she's not excercising fascist censorship), and there are a few more whose names escape me at the moment. I find CheezieDanish inspiring. And, of course, not associated with boards, there have been many inspiring people whom have helped me throughout my life: DM, VT, MM, LH, DN, NE, MD, KR, ... oh, and EF and PS (aka ... hmmm, can't remember ... uhhhmmm ... doesn't matter I guess ... oh, erin, of course).

I am inspired by my children and their accompishments against all odds, and by my grandchildren's unquestioning and unconditional love, and the love and affection that I feel between myself and certain special friends. I am inspired by those who give selflessly of themselves. I am inspired by leadership. I will never forget that aura of strength, purpose and that pure, unadulterated sense of honor that Sgt. John Sparks, USMC, my Drill Instructor at Marine Corps Recruit Depot positively glowed with, even as he was haranguing us at top volume as we crawled on our bellies like lizards through grinding sand and muck.
I didn't follow the inspirational message of Sgt. Sparks and all the others for many years. But now, at an older, more experienced age, I remember those inspirational moments of the past and I recognize how, even much later in life, they have made me a better person and how they have affected not only me, but those around me. To those inspirations I remain, Semper Fidelis.
