if they do not activate within 6 months i will scavenge the databse and get rid of them as they are taking up unecassary sapce which could be used for constructive posters... besides having too many user accounts which are dormant will make the board slower... and we wouldn't want that would we...

the basic rule is... if you register at least post occasionally!

It said that at 11 pm last night. Hell, I've been to bed, woke up fixed breakfast logged on and they still don't have their crap together...I just gave those suckers 60 bucks too. You think they just cut out and ran off with the dough? :dunno

To be fair they did say it would be down until 6am PDT or 13:00 GMT - a total of ten hours. Moving datacentres does involve shifting an enormous amount of data, so downtime is unavoidable. If what they are doing is true, then the whole ezboard experience should be a lot faster as a result.

But still not as good as phpbb :bleh

Yeah...I thought about that too. I almost set up house over here too. phpbb does have a nice system and these boards are so much easier to post on to. Its easier to paste in images too, which I like...cause I love those cute little guys and gals. :boob :yay

It's open source code which means it is free to do with as you wish. :D The only cost involved is registering a domain name and getting a good hosting company, which is what we did.

The only downside is that you are on your own regards marketing the board, but if this is done correctly and enough time is spent on this area - ie. getting your search terms high up in the search engine rankings, linking with like minded websites - it can be done - although it is not easy.

In all fairness. Relocating their entire data to a new data centre is going to take time, 10 hours was ambitious, very ambitious. Also they then have to perform testing of the data integrity etc.
