I posted earlier the story about the Chinese amending their geog textbooks 'cos their astronaut had said that he couldn't see it from space.
Well, watch this space, because they have changed their mind again, someone said they could see it, so the sweat's off in China.
The Chinese geog teachers can put their Tippex away. The Wall is safe. May find a link later, but meanwhile it's easier just to believe me about it.

Oh, shit, now I'll have to find the link, prob Guardian.
You can't really see it from space, except with a magnifying glass, because it's not very wide.

Here's one , not from Guardian, tho'.

THE Great Wall of China is visible from space, the last man to walk on the moon told a Singapore newspaper, contradicting China's first spaceman, who said he couldn't spot the giant fortification.
Cernan's comments also contradict NASA. Its Web site says although many manmade objects can be seen from space without magnification, China's Great Wall is not among them.
The wall stretches thousands of kilometers across northern China, but is only a few meters wide. It is also made from native materials that match the color of the surrounding landscape, NASA's Web site says.

Call Pink Floyd - they know where "The Wall" is.

Actually, what's really interesting is that with certain filters, photography of the wall
from orbit shows many more structures than previously thought.
In fact ... looks suspiciously like chinese writing ... 'giant-sized.'
